Susan Wu

Originally from Taoyuan, Taiwan, Susan immigrated to the United States in 1961, and raised her family, moving from South Dakota, stopping for a few years in Michigan, and eventually settling in Lincoln, Massachusetts.
After earning a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Northeastern University, she worked at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Sponsor Research Accounting Department. Before working at MIT, Susan started to take some Classical Chinese Brush Painting classes at the DeCordova Museum Art School. After a hiatus and after retiring from MIT, she rekindled her interest in Chinese Brush Painting, studying with Qinxiong Ma at DeCordova Museum, who specializes in combined modern Western and traditional Chinese brush painting technique. Susan is a member of the Chinese Painting Guild in Boston and a member of the Sumi-e Society of America Sarasota Chapter. Susan has participated in many group shows with both the Chinese Painting Guild and Sumi-e Society.

Susan exhibited her work in the winter of 2000 at Bemis Hall in Lincoln, Massachusetts. She exhibited paintings in the 2001 spring Art In the Park art show at University Park of Sarasota and won first place for her “Rooster and Family” painting. She also exhibited at the DeCordova Museum Store Gallery in the 2001 spring juried Oriental Art Exhibition and juried All-Art-Student Exhibit. In the spring of 2002, she won second place at University Park Art in the Park show for “Mountain Landscape”. Susan had two successful solo exhibits at Lincoln Library in April-May, 2002 and July, 2011 and also at Lexington Library in December 2007. In 2004, and 2006 she won first place at University Park Art in the Park show for “Mountain Scenery” and “Yellow Orchid,” respectively.
Susan spends her winters with her husband at University Park of Sarasota, Florida, and they spend the remainder of the year residing in Lincoln and Cape Cod Massachusetts.
